Oh so much fun

So it seems as though everyday is now a new adventure in our life. Each new day brings a new sound, a new smiling face, a new laugh or the discovery of moving toes. That's really the newest thing, his toes. It's amazing to me that he can just sit there for hours staring at his toes. He has a Bumbo seat and can sit up to see his toes and he love them. He thinks he's such a big boy now that he can sit up and see what's going on.

He found his toes, but he's much happier when I take his socks off.

Mommy made me sit on the couch with Daddy and I wasn't happy that she didn't take me with her. You should've heard me cry!

I've always thought that I was meant to be a wife and mother, but that has definitely been confirmed over the last 3 months. This has been such an amazing time in our lives. We are in serving where God has called us to serve and we now have a family. God has truly blessed us.

Not much to report

So I haven't blogged in a while, but fortunately there's not a whole lot going on in our lives to report.
We had to take Isaac to the doctor this week because he just can't seem to get over his cold. His cough got really bad on Sunday so I called first thing Monday morning and it's a good thing that I did. Turns out his cold turned into a Sinus Infection. He's currently taking his first round of the wonderful "bubble gum" medicine. He loves it!
Other than that, our week has been pretty boring. We were supposed to be leaving for Children's Camp tomorrow, but we only had 3 kids signed up :-( So instead we are going to have a Spring Break Fling for the kids on Wednesday. We're going to the park and going to watch a movie. They are very excited.
Here are a few pictures from this week.

Sleeping on Daddy

I'm just so cute!

I hate this hat so much I decided to spit up on it just before we left not only making Mommy redress me, but late for prayer meeting.

This is my mischievous face!

Fun times

So we've had a fun night of making new sounds, practicing our laughing and crying. Fortunately there was more laughing and fun sounds than crying. I just thought that I would share these new sounds with everybody.

No creative titles

So my mind is a little fried and I can't come up with any creative titles for this post so you get a boring one. Hopefully the post isn't boring.

First I have to share two pictures with you. As in many of my posts, I am reminiscent of how much my little munchkin has grown already. Yes we call him our little munchkin. I was looking at a picture of his first outing and had really forgotten how little he was. In the pictures, you'll see a picture from his very first outing and then from our walk today. What a difference in 9 weeks.

4 days old

Today

So I was going to upload a video, but I've tried several times with no real luck ;-( I got a cute video of Isaac. The other morning he slept for 7 hours which was a amazing for me. The only problem was that it was 5:30 in the morning and he was ready to play. So for over and hour he laid in his bed, scooting around and snorting. The more excited he got the more he snorted and the louder he snorted! I would go in to check on him and he would get so excited and just giggle and squirm. He was so funny. Every time I said "Isaac shouldn't you be sleeping?" He would just smile so big and snort so loud. It was quite funny. If it would've been later in the morning I would've been happy, but I was up at 4:00 feeding him and he didn't go back to sleep until after 6:00, but he was adorable.

Oh and by the way, this kid is growing so much. We took him to the doctor last week for his 2 month shots and he weighed 9 lbs 14 oz. We had him weighed yesterday and he's 10lbs 10 oz. He gained almost a full pound in a week. He's getting so big. I can hardly believe it!!

Lastly, I want to thank you all for praying. God has taught us so much throughout the last few weeks and once again proven Himself so faithful. God always knows everything that is happening and will happen. He's not surprised by anything. Today I'm more convinced that there are times that God takes us through things in order to make us rely solely on Him and show us that some of our priorities are not in line with His priorities. It's always so wonderful to see how God is changing you and maturing you. I say it's wonderful at the end of the refining time not during the refining time ;-) Even though refining is most often painful, you come out stronger and better in the end.

Enjoy the pictures and the video.

Two Months

So I'm a little behind, but I thought I would add some pictures of Isaac's two month birthday. We took Isaac for his two month appointment today. He weighs 9 lb 14 oz and is 22 and 1/2 inches long. He's getting so big already. In the video below you'll see how much he's moving around already. I have a feeling that he's going to run me ragged once he gets moving.

He's such a fun baby. He's not fussy much and really only cries when he's hungry. He's full of smiles and he's trying so hard to laugh. He coos and goos all the time. He's beginning to notice items above his head. He now loves his OSU mobile on his bed, but gets very upset when the music runs out. He just sits and stares at the little Brutus' on the mobile. They other day I went in and he was "talking" to the Brutus and I was pretty sure he thought it was real. He also now loves the little doggie that barks on his bouncy chair. When I first showed him the doggie he didn't even pay attention. he now loves the dog. Fortunately it plays for about 20 minutes before it goes off. He also tries to bark at the dog. The chair plays BINGO and the dog barks and he tries to bark with it. It's so adorable. He's finding his voice more and more every day. We are so blessed to have this precious little boy.

Enjoy some of the pictures below.

Here's my Kissy Face

Happy boy!

My God is Mighty to Save

Lately I've been hearing this song over and over again and the words seem to stick out more to me every time I hear it.

Mighty to Save
Hillsong

Everyone needs compassion,

Love that's never failing;
Let mercy fall on me.

Everyone needs forgiveness,
The kindness of a Saviour;
The Hope of nations.

Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.

Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

So take me as You find me,
All my fears and failures,
Fill my life again.

I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in,
Now I surrender.

My Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

Shine your light and let the whole world see,
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus

My Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

My Saviour, you can move the mountains,
You are mighty to save,
You are mighty to save.
Forever, Author of Salvation,
You rose and conquered the grave,
Yes you conquered the grave

Lately the one line that says "Forever, author of salvation" has been playing over and over in my head. I firmly believe that God impressed upon me last night that He alone will offer us salvation from our trails. It might not be the salvation that we want or think it should be, but He is the author of salvation and will save us when we need to be saved. I'm not talking about salvation through Christ that lead us into our eternal security in Christ. I'm talking about saving us from the things we go through every day whether they are little or big things. As Bill always says, the things that we go through don't surprise God. He's not knocked off His throne because we shocked Him today with something that happens. I think we often times forget that God is omnipotent. He knows everything, whether we want Him to or not. God knows when we are worried or we are struggling. You know me and my songs....My Dad found a song years ago that says "Sometime He calms the storm and other time He calms His child." God doesn't always take us out of the storm we have found ourselves in. Other times, He offers us peace and gives us wisdom in order for our lives to be stretched further and to become more like him. That doesn't make what you go through any less difficult. The trials and the refinement still hurt and weigh heavily on your mind. I think about all those verses that say be anxious for nothing. I am an anxious person. I want to have a plan for everything. God doesn't want me to be anxious about things that I have no control over. In my head I know this, 99% of my heart believes this as well, but there's a small part of me that must be continually convinced that God has a plan so much bigger than I am and I must trust Him to find out what that plan really is.
If you've known me for very long and you've listened to me do a devotion more than a few times, you've most likely heard my "Dot to Dot" devotion written by the ladies of Women of Faith. The devotion is based on Jeremiah 29:11, one of my most favorite verses. Basically the writer says that our lives are like a dot to dot picture. We jump from one dot to another and they all have different meanings and have a different emotion attached to them. Some are joyful dots others are not. We jump from these dots not knowing what the true picture will be like. We often times feel as though we're jumping into darkness. But fortunately we look up and see God there with a paint brush and a drop of black paint on the end. He is the painter of this picture and He alone can see the picture all of these little dots make up. How amazing it is to know that He paints the pictures of our lives and if we trust Him, He will show us glimpses of the big picture along the way.
After reading this post, you're probably wondering what's going on in our lives that I'm being reflective about trials and the big picture of life. We are in the middle of a trial and we are learning to trust God because there's not a doubt in our mind that He's in control. He has a plan. We are all fine. There's nothing wrong with any of us. But I ask you to pray that God gives us wisdom, discernment and peace. I will share details later, but for now we just ask that you pray for us. God knows the situation and He alone is faithful to supply each need that we have. I thank you in advance for praying. God has given us such great brother and sister in His kingdom and I am so thankful that I can call on my friends to pray.

On a much happier note, Isaac turns 2 months old today. I can hardly believe it. My little boy is growing up so fast. He's so adorable :-)

March 5, 2009

He's getting so big.

I can't believe that's it's already been almost two months that Isaac has been here in our lives. The time has certainly flow by. I now understand why all parents say that they don't know where the time went because it does just fly by. Just look at the pictures below. One from his birthday and one today.

Day Two

Yesterday

He's already changing so much. He's holding his head up so good. He's trying to sit up a little bit, but of course, he doesn't have that much control yet. When he's mad, he has great control of his legs and when you hold him up he puts so much weight on his legs. I like to say he's trying to walk instead of stamping his feet at me when he's mad :-) He's such a good boy. He's trying to talk so hard. If we coo at him, he tries to coo back. He actually got a sound out when Bill was playing with him the other morning and he looked around like what was that sound??? It was so cute.

Below is his first experience in the Johnny Jumper. He's way to little but we thought we'd try it. He seemed to like it, but like all new things, only a few minutes of it before he's ready to move on. If he keeps up that pattern of only liking things for a few minutes at a time I'm going to have my hands full very shortly. Bill put a pillow under his feet so that he could touch that floor and he actually got himself moving a bit, but of course as soon as I got the video camera he started crying and was done. That's always the way it works. I grab the camera and he stops.

I can't believe he's growing up so quickly. Fortunately, now that he's feeling a little better he's sleeping more which is wonderful for Mommy and Daddy. I actually got 4 hrs of sleep at one time last night. It felt wonderful.

More pictures to come soon. I'm sure on his two month birthday that I'll take some pictures.

I should be resting...but I'm not

Yes, It's only 9:30 and I'm saying i should be resting, but what's the old saying...when the baby sleeps you should sleep as well.
As many of you know, my precious boy has his first cold and he's just pitiful. I can't imagine having a stuffy nose and cough like he does and not be able to verbalize it or fix it myself. All in all he's been really good. You can tell he doesn't feel good and the poor thing just sounds absolutely pitiful when he coughs and sneezes. He just lays around with these puffy red eyes and you can just tell he's miserable. He's only sleeping about 2 hours at a time, which I guess I should be really lucky that he's sleeping at all. But two hours at a time for both of us is beginning to take it's toll on us. So instead of writing a blog I should be sleeping since he's sleeping but I'm not....well I'm not sleeping yet that it.
So I thought I would update you guys a little bit on things going on here. We had a busy week and we have a busy month ahead. I'm not exactly sure where the month of February went though, it passed by way too quickly. This weekend was the AWANA Race Car Derby so we were gone all of Friday and Saturday then church on Sunday. Next weekend we have the AWANA Game Day (aka Sparks Arama). Then two weeks later we have the Children Camp. The month of March is then over. I can't believe how fast life is going these days. Before I know it another week is over. I also can't believe my baby boy will be 2 months old next week. Where has this time gone?
Well I thought I would share with you what God is teaching me. Well a few of the things because if I shared everything you would be reading for a LONG time. There are two main things that I've been learning. One, no matter how busy you are or how many needs you have, God wants us to worship Him. What do I mean by this? I know that I can use my prayer time as a wish list. I think if we were all honest, we could give an instance where we have all used prayer time as a time to tell God what we want from Him. Our needs, intercesseding for others, asking God to teach us and mold us. Yet how often do we spend even a portion of our prayer time worshipping God and thanking Him for meeting our needs and continually loving us. Even though I would give almost anything to hav 6-8 straight hours of sleep, yet I love getting up in the middle of the night to feed Isaac. We've gotten into a routine that we turn on the radio before I change his diaper and feed him. We listen to the Christian radio station here and it seems as though every time I feed him the best music is on. I love worshipping God through music, but I feel like the music being played is prompting me to worship Him so much more, especially after the music is off. This time is wonderful for so many reasons, but it's nice because there are no distrations, it's only me and Isaac and he's busy! I'm not thinking oh I should be doing laundry or dishes or running the vaccuum because I can't do those things at 3 in the morning. God is teaching me during every feeding how to worship Him more and remember just how amazing He really is.
If you've been reading my blog in the past you know that I am always amazed at exactly how faithful He is. We have seen God's faithfullness so much in the past 6 months and are totally amazed by Him. Even lately we've tried to be even more intentional about giving back to God through our time, our money and with any resources we have and we have seen God bless us so much. I'm definatly not saying that if you give, God will send you a check for $1000. I'm also not saying things don't get hard just because your focus is on God. If anything there are harder times because God is molding you into the person that He wants you to be. But, what He has been showing us is that He will provide our needs. Not our wants, our needs. We always have food on the table, gas in the car and our bills our paid. In this time of eceonmic crisis, these are things that we can't really take for granted, but God has provided and will continue to provide. As Bill and Pastor John have been saying lately, God is not surprised that money is tight for everyone. For some, there's not even money there. But the most amazing thing is that God is not surprised by this in any way shape or form. He knew this was going to happen and He has a plan.
So as usual I will leave you with a few pictures from the last few days in the life of Isaac.
