Out of the ordinary

So this morning, Bill and I were talking about some things that were going to happen during church this week and we were talking about prayer. I began to think about prayer. Bill had said he's trying to be quiet before God which can sometimes be scary. I've been focusing on trying to be thankful for the little things in life that I take for granted. When I think about prayer I think about how lucky we are to have direct access to God whenever we want. Think about it. Rarely can you get someone every time you want to talk to them at the exact second you want to talk to them. But, talking to God isn't that way. We can talk to Him whenever we want, no matter the time or the situation. We serve a God who is completely amazing. I am so overwhelmed at how much He loves us and How faithful He is to us.

What an exciting Christmas

What a day! So much fun! Bill and I were so excited we woke up very early and as good parents we know to never wake a sleeping baby, so we let him sleep, but fortunately he woke up about 7:30 and we were ready to go. He walked in the living room, so surprised by all the packages under the tree. He kept looking between the tree, Bill and me to see if this was for real.
We learned several things about first Christmas'. 1) You really don't need tons of presents. Why you ask, they only want to open one and then play with that one, they don't want to move on. For someone who is very goal oriented, that's hard. 2) All you really need is a box and some balls and you are good to go. 3) Have a bottle and blanket ready as soon as you're done opening presents because he will need a nap. He barely made it through breakfast before he was out.
I'm still pretty sure we had just as much if not more fun than Isaac. This year it surely wasn't about the presents, it was all about the excitement each time something new was opened and he realized it was something new for him. He would do laps around the coffee table to see all of his bounty. Finally he just laid down in the floor with a bottle and watched us open presents.
I can't post all of the pictures, mainly because I took so many and there's a space limit, but I'll try to post the best ones. I took two videos, Isaac opening Aunt Vickie's presents and opening Aunt M's present.

The rest of the pictures are pretty self explanatory. This one however is special. Most of the time now when I pick him up or take him from someone he will pat my shoulder and say "My Mama" so the card he got me says My Mama, how sweet is he.

Almost Christmas

I thought I'd start out with pictures for a change this time.

He spilt water on the table and decided to lick it off. I guess I should be thankful that he cleaned it up.

He started playing with the pitcher, then decided he liked it on his head.

Mom, stop taking pictures, I'm busy.

Getting the tree, as usual

So we're getting ready for Christmas, like the rest of the world. I started wrapping presents last night and realized that we might just have to build addition to the house after Isaac's Christmas and birthday. The little boy is going to get so many new toys he's not going to know what to do. I'm not complaining, actually I'm very thankful that he has so many people that care about him and send him so much.
Isaac is moving and shaking for sure these days. He has definitely moved past taking a few steps and moved right into walking around. He's gotten so good at stopping and starting and turning the around. I'm pretty impressed at well he's doing. Many times now he doesn't even want you to try to hold his hand and he gets mad when you try. He wants to walk by himself. He got his second hair cut tonight. It's growing almost as fast as mine. Maybe he's sneaking into my vitamins ;-) I swear he's gotten taller in the last few weeks. He used to be able to walk under the table and now his head hits the table. He got another big boo boo this week. He was reaching for a toy in the bathtub and knocked his head on the bath tub. He had a huge knot and I was certain it was going to be black and blue, but it's only a little purple today. Hopefully it won't get much worse. He just wants to move so fast, I figure we are in for lots of scrapes and bruises in the next few months. We got his 1 year old pictures taken. They turned out so good. I'm so glad I had them done professionally.
We get to find out in two weeks if Isaac is getting a brother or a sister. Many people have their opinion, but I'm not sure. It's exciting for us that we get to find out the sex of the baby on Isaac's birthday. It will be such a big day for all of us. I'm feeling much better which is so nice. I'm starting to get very big these days. I feel as though I'm much bigger than I was at this stage with Isaac, but it could be all in my head.
Well, tomorrow is Christmas Eve and we are headed to the Christmas Eve Service. I can't help but think that my family is going to be everywhere this Christmas, yet none of us are going to be together this year. I guess it's just one of those things that happens once we grow up and move away from home. Everybody does their own thing for the holidays. Just because we won't be together doesn't mean we won't talk on the web cam and do everything we can to feel like we're together.

The First Snow

Oh how I love snow. I'm like a little kid. It started snowing on Saturday and I'm running around the house yelling "Snow, snow snow!" Isaac thought I was crazy, but I was loving it. I even got up several times during the night to see how much snow we had gotten. I was so excited to see we got a good amount when I woke up Sunday morning. After church and Isaac's nap we got him up and dressed him all warm, then took him out to play in the snow. Let's just say he had the same reaction to the snow that he did the ocean. He loves to look at it yet he doesn't want it to touch it or it to touch him. It's just too cold. He was so cute. He goes over to the window and wants us to pick him up so he can see it then he just laughs.
On another note, we get to find out if we are having a boy or girl on January 8th, Isaac's 1st Birthday. We are so excited and praying that this baby will cooperate so that we can see if it's a boy or girl.

Here are some pictures of the first snow.

So I finally caught a few steps on video

To see him take a few steps, click here. The video isn't the best, but he's doing better every time he tries. He even sits down and claps for himself sometimes. It makes me smile when he does that ;-) He's becoming much more daring in the last 3 days. He now walks from the couch to the table and to other pieces of furniture. He gets so excited when you stand him up and gets going so fast he just falls over cause he can't get his balance. It's quite funny.
Tonight, we were talking to Gramma on the web cam since it was her birthday. One of his new favorite toys it a over size plastic tub that used to hold laundry detergent. We were watching him stand in the floor and pick it up and move it from side to side. Now picture this, it's almost as tall as he is and much wider than he is. He was also making the weirdest sound of excitement. But he just kept picking it up and moving it all around not holding onto anything. He's just getting so big so fast. I can't believe he took his first step on Sunday and today he's taking 7-10 steps at a time as well as walking back and forth between us. How is this happening so fast? Enjoy the pictures as well as the video.

What a smile ;-)

Trying to catch him walking.

He found the pickle's. Of course he likes them, I ate them the first twelve weeks I was pregnant.

He eats the banana peel, not the banana.

His snow suit that Ms. Betty made his last year .

Styling.....

He fed himself, can you tell?

His first busted lip ;-(

The day has come

We all knew this day would come, however part of me wanted it to come later than sooner. I know, that doesn't make much sense.
Today we were in the nursery at church and Isaac took his first steps. It's so exciting, yet just another quick reminder that our baby is quickly becoming a little boy. He's loosing that baby face more and more every day. He took about three steps and then because he was trying to out due Pastor John and I had to take him out in the lobby, he took about 10 steps. We've tried and tried, but he will only take a few steps and then falls down because he can crawl faster. He's such a smart boy.
We're trying to get it on camera, but it's hard to try and capture those moments, but don't worry I will keep trying.

Christmas in the Ford house

I love Christmas. Actually it's hard to express in words how much I love Christmas. I love everything about it. The lights, the ornaments, the trees, all the decorations, the movies, the music, everything. We put our Christmas tree up yesterday! Isaac loved playing with the branches on the tree. He couldn't figure out if I took one away how more appeared in the floor for him to play with. It was quite funny. He didn't really want to play with anything except the screw that held the tree in the stand. We ran out of lights half way through so I had to run and get more. While I was gone, Isaac got a bath and ready for bed and Bill and I finished the tree after Isaac was in bed. I must say I think it's the best tree yet. I love it. We have all the ornaments that Bill and I buy every year and then Isaac's first ornament and his new Elmo ornament.
I knew he would be excited this morning when he got up and saw the tree all together. So Bill brought him in and I got to capture some pictures and a cute video. He was so excited he just squealed. It took him about 10 minutes to actually touch the tree. He's only taken off a few ornaments. I'm going with the theory that if I let him touch a few and hold them instead of telling him no that maybe the excitement of not touching them will wear off and he will leave them alone. Not sure if reverse psychology will work on him or not, but who knows. Time will only tell.

Here's a video of him seeing the tree.

Here are a few pictures of our tree and Isaac.

Helping Momma with the branches

This is all he wanted to do for a while. He also eats the metal doorstops at the church office and recently he's been attracted to the metal hinges on the door. I wonder if he's in need of some vitamin.
