More lessons

It's been a week of lessons on so many levels this week.
Over the last two day I feel like God is teaching me many many lessons. Yesterday I started having the worst pain in my back that I've ever had in my life. If you know me, I don't call the doctor for much. I've never wanted to be one of those people that calls the doctor every time the wind blows. Even with Isaac I didn't call unless I really felt like something was wrong or out of the ordinary. I figured when everything I tried that normally takes this pain away didn't help at all it was time to call to see what I could take and if I should be worried. They asked me to come in immediately to make sure there was nothing really wrong with me or the baby. Everything came back good, no infection. Basically I've either pulled, pinch, tweaked, injured something. He says it should take several days to relax. He gave me some pain meds which I was very leery about taking. It's the same thing they gave me when I came home from the hospital. My dr laughed and said he was pretty sure I wouldn't take them unless I really needed them since I didn't take them when I came home from the hospital. So I took half of one yesterday evening and then half in the middle of the night. They have really helped. Hopefully a few days and I'll be back to normal.
So what do I feel like God is teaching me in this? Possibly to let go just a teeny tiny bit. Isaac is capable of doing lots of things on his own, but I have a hard time letting him because it takes him quadruple the time it would take me to do it, but I feel like God is saying Anne, he's growing up and in a few months you aren't going to be able to do everything for him. Also, I need to teach him to do things instead of doing them for him. Like when I ask him to come to me, I need to really teach him to do it instead of going and getting him myself. Funny how God even takes my parenting skills and mold them into what He wants, however this is literally a painful lesson.

Other peoples blogs...

I think I'm beginning to get addicted to other peoples blogs. People I know, people I don't know and will probably never know. I think Gods showing me many things through all of these blogs that I try to read every day. 1) I think he's showing me that even when we have what we think are days that are extremely hard, we have no idea what hard really is. 2) I think God's teaching me how to pray in a deeper way. I read these blogs and my heart breaks for these people going through difficult times and it compels me to lift them up to our Healer. 3) God is making me more aware that He does not promise us a perfect life, He promises to love us and take care of our every need. Again, this doesn't mean that He's going to meet every need I have the way I want those needs met. He's going to meet them in His time and in His way. 4) God is quickly teaching me not to take my health or the health of my family for granted. I am currently following several blogs where they have suffered a loss of a young child, have a child that was born very early, or have a child that has a quickly moving form of cancer. When I was pregnant with Isaac, I can't remember a time where it entered my mind that it is possible for this precious little one to not be perfect. I am much more aware this time around that God has formed this baby in His image. Psalm 139 has always been such a special passage to me, but now having children, it takes on a whole new light. Seeing once again that tiny little baby, not much more than 6-7 inches move all around and wiggle his fingers and toes I am truly amazed at How big our God is. He creates this perfect little life. I almost always cry during our ultrasounds, not because there's something wrong or out of excitement, but when I see that little baby move I'm flooded with the reminder that this baby is such a blessing from God. Like I've said before, this wasn't necessarily my plan to have a baby this quickly, but God's plan works in His time and in His way. I am so thankful though that God has given us another little boy so close in age to our precious Big Boy. I have a feeling they will be such good friends.
God is teaching me every day not to take Him for granted. In October God started bringing things to my mind that I need to be thankful for and not take for granted. Things like heat, running water, the house I live in, the things I have, that He meets our needs, that our bills are paid. There are so many people right now that wish they had all of those things and these are thing that we take for granted quite often. Lately Gods been impressing on me to be thankful for the hard times. This is NOT easy. For emphasis, let me repeat that this is extremely hard to do. Yesterday during church, Pastor John asked what we hold onto with open arms and what we hold onto with tightly closed fists. In realistic terms, there would only be a few "things" that I would be sad if God took away. Mainly my memories. The only thing I feel like I hold onto with tightly closed fists would be my family. I applaud Abraham for being willing to sacrifice his son Isaac because God wanted him to. I can't imagine doing that. This makes me more and more thankful for what God has given me.
I feel like there's so much I want to share, but I don't have the time or the words for now. But I ask you to be in prayer for so many families that need God's touch today.

First Birthday

What a fun, exciting, overwhelming and exhausting day! Isaac's first birthday was a success. He went to William's house yesterday morning while I went to the doctor. I was so thankful that we ask Kindra to watch him. The Ultrasound Man was running almost an hour behind. Okay, not the worse thing in the world, but we got there early for our appointment. So we ended up spending over 2 hours at he doctor. That would've been miserable to try to entertain Isaac there for 2 hours. We picked Isaac up and he was almost upset that we were there to pick him up. He wanted to play more an we were ready to go. Our plan was to go to KFC, Isaac's favorite place to eat, for lunch. Well, Isaac pretty much fell asleep in the car on the way so we went through the drive through to pick up lunch and he was awake when we got him out of the car. So he still got to have his lunch.
While he took a nap, I made his cake and finished cleaning up the house to get ready for his party. He wasn't quite sure what was happening, but knew something was up. Once people started arriving, he was having a great time. We opened presents first and he had a pretty good time. He didn't want to move on to another present, he just wanted to play. He was overwhelmed with excitment when Daddy came in with a HUGE blue bouncy ball. I thought he might explode for a minute. He chased the ball around the house for an hour last night. After presents we had cake. He wasn't sure what to do with it because he's never had cake. I think it was a little too cold as it had been in the fridge so the icing wouldn't melt. Daddy put a scoop of ice cream on his tray and then he decided this was a good thing. He started licking the tray. He was a mess by the time it was all over with. As you'll see in the pictures, there was cake everywhere. He was getting upset when people left and they wouldn't give him a hug but he was filthy. So once people left we went straight to the tubby. The party was so much fun. He was exhausted, but didn't go to bed until 9:30 which is almost 2 hour past his bed time. I was hoping he would sleep in this morning, but I can't complain too much that he was up around 8:30.
We headed to Wal-mart this morning to use his gift cards. You know me, I'm always shopping on sales and looking for deals so it was kind of fun to walk up and down the aisle, not really looking at prices. We went through the aisle and he didn't really seem to react to anything until we got to the Hula Hoops. He went crazy. So we got him one. He played with some at church the other night and thought he was in seventh heaven. He also got a guitar that he played with at William's house and loved, along with some puzzles, two trucks, some new PJ's, an outfit, some new cups and a few other odds and ends. I think Daddy and I had more fun picking out toys than Isaac did. Then we had to come home for a nap, he was so tired that he could barely walk in the living room. Yesterday was a big day for all of us.
I told Bill this morning that we would finish up the baby formula that we had and then slowly switch him over to regular milk when the formula ran out. We will also put away the bottles when the formula runs out. It makes me sad to think my little boy won't be drinking bottles anymore. He's a big boy now. But, as Bill pointed out to me again, we're going to be doing it all over again in a few months. Which is very true. Seeing Baby Noah yesterday made it so real to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally aware that I'm pregnant, it's not something that you forget, but seeing that baby on an ultrasound moving all around makes it so real. I love seeing those little feet and hands. My one baby is quickly becoming a little boy but I have another coming behind him.

We're having a.......

BOY!!!!!!

His name will be Noah Allen. He looks great and is measuring a few days ahead of my due date, so we will have to see what happens. He is like his brother in the fact that when he was done with all the poking and prodding of the ultrasound he curled up in a little ball and wouldn't move so that we could see anything else. He was done with us. He was very active. He kept showing us his hand and feet. Ever time I see baby feet on an ultrasound it makes me cry to think that God created this little perfect baby growing inside me. I am just overwhelmed by this fact. God give us so much.

Hand and Feet

Profile picture, what a beautiful baby

A few pictures

Oh it's been an eventful week. Isaac is walking around like a mad man, almost running around sometimes. He's into everything and exploring everything. It's funny to watch him, he has to get down on the floor and lay down to see how everything works. He even wants to look in between the computer when the computer is closed. He's going through some growth spurts or that's what I'm calling it. He's been rather fussy lately and determined to get his way when he wants it. We've had several battles of will lately, but I always win, even if that means he needs to spend some time in his bed. We took him to the dr a few days ago. He now weighs 23 and 1/2 pounds. What a big boy. The dr also says he has 4 teeth coming in which could be cause for some of his fussiness. I honestly can't complain because he's still such a wonderful baby.
I can't believe he will turn one tomorrow. Where has this year gone? I was thinking this morning what I was doing this time last year. I was getting ready for a birthday party (I think it was). Little did I know how different things would be a few days later. How much better our lives would be. How much joy our lives would have. Every day seems like it's a new adventure. Some good, some not so good. But in the end, the good more than outweighs the bad. We were talking this morning how that little smile and the hands shaking yelling your name when he sees you makes all the bad things go away. No, there's nothing wrong with him, he just gets so excited that his hands shake quite often. Pastor Brad and Michelle were gone on vacation for Christmas and when he saw Pastor Brad, he literally went crazy for a minute. His whole body shook and he couldn't or wouldn't move and just kept squealing. So Brad went to pick him up and Isaac squealed louder and would reach out his hands to touch him but he couldn't just touch him. We all laughed until we cried. It was hilarious. This boy just gets so excited about things, it makes me smile.

This is the bowl from Bill's dinner, Isaac loved it as you will see below.
