So today has been an interesting day. I helped out at church this morning for a few hours with the things that needed to be done since they had a short week. It was nice to feel needed again in an office setting. We got some things done and then I headed home to rest. I dislike the fact that if I'm out and about a few hours I'm exhausted, but as the doctor said yesterday it takes so much energy to grow a baby.
Yesterday was my first non-stress test. If anyone has had one, it's no big deal. Basically you're hooked up to a monitor and they watch the baby's heart rate to make sure it's increasing when the baby moves. As the nurse said, he's probably going to get really mad when I strap this monitor on as he kept moving around when she just tried to find his heart beat. So least to say he wasn't very happy when she strapped that on. He kicked, moved and hit the monitor for almost the whole time it was on. Bill kept saying he would run around so much and his heart beat would increase so much that it sounded like he was preparing for attack. Bill's never really seen my belly move around because Isaac moves, but yesterday he was everywhere. Bill was amazed at how much he moves and what a temper he has. This should be very interesting to see if he continues to have this temper after he's born:-)
We put together the glider rocker from Momaw and Popaw last night and I'm currently in the process of recovering it. It looks so good. I love it! After that all I have to do is hand the curtains and get a changing table and his room is done. It's hard to believe. The funny thing is, his room is the only room in the house that's actually done.
We bought a Christmas tree and our yearly ornament. For those of you who don't know, Bill and I make it our yearly tradition to buy one special ornament together. Our collection is beginning to grow. We can hardly wait to put the tree up. I have to finish sewing the cushion covers and move the sewing machine before the tree can be put up, but we are so excited.
It's been an exciting few days around here. I love the fact that Bill has Monday's off. It makes the weekend so much longer. We love the fact that he has one full day to get things done. I would love to have a little more energy in order to get things done faster, but God is really teaching me not to be concerned with the little things of the house. Continually worrying and being frustrated isn't bringing glory to God. I've learned to get done what I can get done and if someone doesn't like the fact that everything in the house doesn't have a specific place then they don't have to come over. Everyone who's coming over has much more patience with the house coming together than I do. God has given us an amazing group of friends here in Idaho that are so supportive of us. I appreciate the fact that everybody keeps saying "you're pregnant, rest, we can help." Even though it's very hard for me to accept that help, I'm learning that sometimes you just have to realize that you're not going to get it all done and someone needs to help. Plus, I'm learning that it doesn't always all have to get done. Things can wait for tomorrow.
So, for tonight I think that's about it. I have 2 friends that are scheduled to have their babies tomorrow, so please remember them in your prayers. As one person wrote tonight, God is in no way surprised by the events that happen in our lives. This is so true. God isn't surprised by anything. He already knows.

More of Isaac's Room
So when do you cross that line that there's too much Red and White in a room???? According to most OSU fans, that's not a possibility. But I want to update pictures of the new dresser I re-did for Isaac's room. I moved some thing around. The rocker came yesterday but I have to recover it as you could only order a white rocker with blue or pink cushions. So it's coming along. I'm very excited with how the room looks so far.
Since I matched the room I thought I'd get in the picture.

Isaac's little tricycle from Aunt Vickie

His room after I moved things around.

His dresser. Oh you should've seen it before.

I just love how everything is coming together.

What day is it?
So it's Thursday. All day long I keep thinking it's Friday. But I'm glad to find out that I'm not the only one who's confused. I stopped by to have lunch with Bill and the Administrative Assistant kept saying the same thing.
So, since it's Thursday and it's a chilly, blustery day I've been inside all day and as I've been doing things around the house I keep thinking of things that I really enjoy so I thought I would share some of my favorite things with you. Hopefully you won't think that I'm crazy.
1) Even though it's getting uncomfortable, I love to lay down and feel my son move around and kick me. It reminds me so often that God is so amazing to give me this miracle of life and that I have been so privileged to care for this child for 9 months.
2) Having lunch with my husband. This might seem weird, but in my previous job if I did get to have lunch with him it was usually rushed or interrupted by things that had to be done. I love that I have the opportunity to be one of those wives that can stop by her husbands office any time and have lunch with him. I'm not bragging that I'm not working but enjoying every minute of it.
3) This one is not meant to demean any other church experiences that I've had, but I greatly enjoy learning from a pastor who truly loves God and is willing to step on toes to get people to realize that our idea of Christianity isn't always God's idea of Christianity and we always have room to grow. This morning was one of those times where I happened to walk into the office and Pastor John was preparing for his message and came out to tell us what God had shown him. Basically God has been showing him that we are very selfish people and we bring nothing to our relationship with Christ. He is the only one that can bring anything to the relationship yet we continually try in vain to add something to this relationship. We have a difficult time in our human lives understanding how big the God is that we serve and who He really is. In reality He is so amazing that we can't offer anything to the relationship that we have with Him.
4) I am learning to cherish every moment that I have with my husband and quickly realize how much I love spending one on one time with him. I am used to having Bill's undivided attention the last few years as he's been in school and working part time, he's been able to focus way too much attention on me. But now that he's working in a place that he loves more than 40 hours a week, I don't get as much attention. This goes back to Pastor John's thought process that we can be very selfish. I realized this a few weeks ago when I said "I don't like the fact that I don't have all of his attention." Wow, what a selfish statement. He's finally able to serve in full time ministry and is so happy. He's serving God and devoting his life to ministry just like we've prayed for for three years now. But without saying anything to him I learned through many situations that I do in fact have his attention, probably more than I realized. Any time I need him he literally runs home to make sure I'm okay. Plus if he can't get me on the phone, he gets worried and comes home to check on me. I have a wonderful person who is an amazing husband who is serving God with everything he has, but still makes me second, only behind God, not his job. What more could I ask for? Plus, since we've been told we only have about 6 weeks until this baby is born, my mind keeps venturing to the fact that it will never be just me and Bill again. Not that this is a bad thing, we are so thrilled to have Isaac come into this world. I can hardly wait! But I'm learning to cherish every moment that we have because things will be different but wonderful, from the time Isaac makes his entrance. So basically I'm learning to enjoy the fact that even though we don't have as much time together these days, the quality of our time is amazing and I hope that it only gets better over the next 50 years.
So I hope that none of this sounds weird and I hope that no one thinks that I am miserable or my husband doesn't pay enough attention to me because that's not the case. I just wanted to share a little of my thought process with anyone who reads!
I've been painting and sewing to make Isaac's room perfect. It's almost there. When it's done, I will post more pictures.

Doctor's Visit Update
So here we are after another appointment, however this one was much better than the last visit. According to the doctor my blood pressure is down and my sugar is down. He says my sugar looks very good and I seem to be controlling it by diet very well. Can I just tell you how bad I want a piece of cake??????
So the good news is everything looks good. He thinks Isaac has flipped and moved down a little bit! This means he's head down and ready to go! I asked again about if he thinks they will still take him early. He said it depends on his size and if any complications get more serious. For now he's planning on Isaac being born either the last week of December or the first week of January. I can't believe it's a possibility that my son will be here in about a month. It's a very scary and surreal feeling. You know this is going to happen, but it's hard to comprehend that it's going to happen so soon.
So for now I get to visit the doctor twice a week for non-stress tests and then every two weeks for my regular appointment. So we'll be spending a lot of time at the doctor's office in the next 5-6 weeks. But we are so excited.

So I almost forgot
How could I forget that I didn't post pictures of Isaac's almost done room. So actually we still have a good bit of work to do, but for now the paint is done and the crib and bedding are put together. For those of you who haven't seen it yet here are a few pictures.

What a week
So whoever had the idea that if I didn't work full time I'd have more time to rest and relax was crazy. I feel like I'm more busy now than when I was working. But I must say it's been WONDERFUL not working for the last 6 weeks. I love being able to sleep in and feel like I have the option of taking an afternoon nap if needed without feeling guilty. God has blessed me so much this way!
This weekend was the Ladies Retreat at our church. I had a wonderful time attending and getting to know the ladies more. It was very refreshing to have a day just of ladies! The speaker was great. Her main goal was to get us focused on spending more time in the Word. She mad the statement that there's no way that we can know what God's assignments are for us if we're not spending time in His Word and with Him. How true is that? We often say "I feel like this is what God wants" and in reality we haven't even asked him what He wants. So it was a great weekend of learning and fellowship and of course amazing food! We had an ice cream social this afternoon that was wonderful!
So to close this blog, even though I've been busy that doesn't mean that I have a lot to report on as it's mainly been unpacking and putting together the nursery, I thought I'd share with you a portion of our beautiful Thursday. These are a few pictures I took on an especially sunny Idaho day!

It's Sunday
So Sunday's can be good and bad. I love that we get to go to our new church. We are still meeting wonderful new people and getting involved where we can. We are loving it. Pastor John's preaching is amazing. he had a great message this morning on God's Grace. It's been so great listening to what God has given him as he preaches through Roman's. Brad is an amazing worship leader. It's been so wonderful to feel completely free to worship however God lays upon your heart. Brad is such an amazing pastor to the youth but has such a tender heart. You would never know this just by looking at him. You would probably think that he was a guy that was pretty out there with his music and was hard to get to know. But he's a man that is truly seeking God's heart. It's amazing that Bill has the opportunity to work with both of these Pastor's. He's learning so much from both of them.
So today Bill organized his first pot luck luncheon. He had a luncheon for all the Children's Workers just to get to know everybody and share his vision for the Children's Ministry at Emmanuel. He did a very good job of sharing his vision. They also had a few moments of appreciation for Matt who took over as the point person while they were looking for a Pastor. Matt has done a spectacular job of keeping things going while there wasn't a full time person in charge. One thing I like about this church is that men aren't afraid to cry. The men are full of emotion here and when they are overwhelmed they aren't afraid to show it. Matt was overwhelmed today. The interesting thing to me is that the men aren't crying just to cry. It's truly because their hearts are breaking for the people of the church and they truly want what is best for these people and the cry of their heart is for these people to follow Christ with every ounce of energy that they have. It's so amazing to me what a passion these men have for people.
So after a wonderful day of church and fellowship the yucky part is that all my homework is due on Sunday night. I thought now since I have more time throughout the week available that i would get so much more done and not wait until Sunday. Guess what????? So far that hasn't happened. Hopefully once I get the house finished (which it's coming along nicely) I hope to have more time to do school work throughout the week and not wait until Sunday. So now I'm off to write a paper. 5 more weeks of school left and then I'm done with my Masters Degree!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO. That's so exciting. Now if Isaac will just wait to come until I'm done we will be happy!
I leave you with a thought from Pastor John's message this morning. He was talking about the difference of preaching grace and law. He said "God allows us to whatever it is that we choose to do. What we need to remember is that there are consequences when we step outside of his plan for us." What an amazing reminder. God has a plan for us. He wants us to follow that specific plan, however He has given us free will and will allow us to do whatever we want. But there are consequences when we step out of His plan. How often we forget when we step out of His plan that there are consequences and we wonder why we experience those consequences. Never forget that God has the most perfect plan for our lives. We might not be able to see it at this moment, or at any time. But He has an amazing plan.

It's Thursday
So even though I didn't get a lot accomplished today I feel very accomplished. I know that probably doesn't make much sense. But, since when do pregnant women make sense :-)
Today I slept in till 9:25 which was amazing. Bill has graciously passed his cold on to me so I think that's why I slept in, but I'm not complaining. I met with the dietitian today which wasn't that bad of an experience. I don't have to make that many changes to my diet, but I do have to eat more. Isn't that odd. I have to eat 6 small meals a day. It is very likely that my body can't handle 3 main meals and doesn't know what to do. Other than that I have to eat fresh fruit and can't have any juice which makes me sad because I just found juice that I really like. Currently I have to test my sugar four times a day which isn't that bad either, especially with my fear of needles. So far it's actually been too low every time I've checked it. I guess that's a good thing.
But other than that I've gotten most of my work done for my class this week. I have to write a book report, but it helps to have started reading the book! You know me, I'm the eternally procrastinator when it comes to school work. Although I did do one of my reports for next week already. That's really good for me. I'm not sure I've ever worked ahead in a class. I guess I just can't wait to finish this last course, especially not knowing when Isaac could decide to arrive. I want to make sure it's done long before he arrives.
We got an email today that the ottoman that goes to his rocker is in we just have to go pick it up and his bed should be here tomorrow. Bill is going to touch up the trim around the ceiling that I can't reach tomorrow so Isaac's room should be almost done. I can't wait to get everything settled.
Like I said yesterday, I've really been praying that God will help me focus on the positive things in my life rather than the negative. God has blessed me with a very good friend here who has called and come over several times the last few days just to check on me. God knows what we need when we need it. It's it so amazing to have a Savior who knows us better than any person could ever know us?? I think so!

It's a new day!
So, everybody says each new day bring new things. This is so true.
Many have said that my post yesterday sounded very sad. I will admit that I was very sad. We got tons of news yesterday that we didn't really have much time to process. Up until yesterday I have had a very simple and easy pregnancy. Yesterday was an overwhelming day.
Then there's today. After spending some time in prayer with Bill last night, we asked God to give us the right perspective on all the news that we received and God did just that. I meet with the dietitian tomorrow so she can tell me all the things that I can no longer eat :-) Man they are taking all the fun out of this pregnancy!
Here are two pictures after I got home from our doctor's appointment today.

Some of you are probably thinking WOW she's getting bigger every day. Well it feels that way to me too. There's a good reason for that as we found out today. No, I'm not having twins!
Dr. Urquhart wanted me to have an ultrasound since I was now have Gestational Diabetes and high blood pressure just to make sure he's growing like normal.
So the ultrasound man was so nice. He took almost an hour to look around at Isaac. He scared us a little because he kept asking how we knew it was a boy. Bill and I both got worried and then he said, Oh wait, I see it. Big sigh of relief on our part.
He took some measurements and asked when my due date was. I told him it was 1/16/09, which would put me at 29 weeks and 5 days today. Well, little Isaac measures at 31 weeks. The ultrasound man says my due date is at least 8 days off. This would explain why we are both so big! The doctor will confirm for sure tomorrow when he looks at the ultrasound, but the man was pretty sure I was 31 weeks than at 29 weeks.
Everything else looked very good. He said all the measurements were good, the heart rate was good and he was moving quite a bit. Right now he is in a breach position which I thought he was as he kicks a lot. I thought that was too strong to be hands moving! He said not to worry, he will most likely flip around. The nurse also said they don't worry about that until 37-38 weeks. So he still has a few weeks to flip back around. He did move his head down several times. He doesn't like to cooperate when people are pressing on my belly, that's for sure.
Below are some of the newest pictures of Isaac.
A profile picture. As they showed me this picture I couldn't help but be overwhelmed at the priceless gift God has given us with this child.

His little feet. I love pictures of feet even though these are blurry.

After a scare thinking it might be a girl, this confirms it is a boy. Now we don't have to return all the blue stuff.

Thank you for your continued prayers.

Do you ever wonder.......
I've heard the old saying over and over again....you're either going through a trial, just finishing going through a trial or God is preparing you for a trial. Well, I was just thinking the other day that God was just blessing us so much and we didn't deserve it. So, I'm making this sound a lot worse than it really is, I'll just get to the point.
We went to the doctor today for my first 'official' appointment with the new doctor. As most of you know I failed my first Gestational Diabetes test and had to go back last week for the 3 hour test. I didn't hear from them yesterday so I was excited! I am one of those people that has to prepare myself for things. So because I've had some swelling and I've been pretty uncomfortable I was totally expecting the doctor to tell me to go to bed. Not that I would've been happy about this, but I was prepared for it none the less. Well, let's just say if he would've told me that I woul've been okay. The visit started as normal, my blood pressure was normal so this was good. Then the nurse said she was going to go grab a chair so that I could be comfortable. I was thinking this is odd, I've never had a doctor do this. Well, she was getting ready to tell me not so great news. Bottom line, I have Gestational Diabetes. It's not out of control, but my last two blood draws were slightly over the limit that they allow. Not what I wanted to hear. So I get to have an appointment with the dietitian on Thursday to set me up with my blood glucose meter and I have to check my blood sugar 4 times a day to begin with. Yucky! But they all feel that just because I'm barely above the limit that I should be able to control this just by cutting back on carbs and sugars. So that's the good news! The chance of me having to take insulin or other medications are very slim.
At my last appointment he told me that there is a chance that they might induce me early because of my high blood pressure. Because of the Gestational Diabetes , High Blood Pressure and a few other things, they pretty much prepared me that they will be taking Isaac before his due date. Of course because of all these thing going on, doctors always give you the worse case scenarios which scare you to death and always make you wonder what will happen. He also prepared me that there is a possibility that I might have to have a C-section. This is not something that I want to do. But he said it's not what he's saying has to happen, but he's preparing me that this might be a possibility so that I'm not shocked when it's time to have Isaac.
So here we are. I'm not saying this is a trial, but God is teaching us something. I just need to figure out what He's teaching and have faith that He will help me get through this. God knew long before I even got pregnant that this would be the case and that we would get more information than we could process today. This was not a surprise to Him. To us, yes, but to Him, no surprises. As I'm sitting here typing and watching the election results, I'm reminded so much that God is in control of everything. How quickly we forget that he isn't surprised.
So what do I ask for? I ask that you pray that I will not focus on the negative, but the positive. My little boy is just fine. Pray that he continues to be just fine. For the most part, physically, I'm fine, there will just need to be adjustments made to my diet. It's never a bad thing to loose a little more weight. Maybe God knew I needed this pregnancy in order to motivate me loose weight. So far, I'm four pounds less than when I started this pregnancy. The doctor told me not to expect to gain any more weight. Isaac is growing even though I keep loosing weight. When the doctor measured me today I've grown 3 inches since my appointment on October 22. So he is growing, not concerns there.
We get to have and ultrasound tomorrow and see Isaac again! We are so excited. Pray that everything will be okay and that he's not too big. They are a little concerned that he might be bigger than expected at this point, another reason to take him a little early.
God is good and He will provide the strength to finish these last 10 and 1/2 weeks of this pregnancy. Pray that my focus stays of God, not the circumstances around me.

It's Friday night.....
So my thoughts are running away with me today as I've had much time to think. This morning I had to have a 3 hour glucose tolerance test. As the nurse says, I failed the first one miserably so I got to come back for the second one. So when you're sitting in a doctor's waiting room from 8:00 - 11:30, you have lots of time to think. Plus, Bill is gone to a Men's Retreat this weekend so I had last night to myself and my thoughts.
So you may ask yourself what have my thoughts been consumed with lately? First, I find myself thanking God more and more every day for so many things. We are finding every day that God is truly blessing us for stepping out on faith, selling most of our belongings and moving across the country. Yes, we didn't move overseas, but sometimes it feels like we did :-) We are loving Idaho, but there have been many adjustments to our routine and this is taking both of us some getting use to. But, we are finding that God is not only blessing us, but teaching other people through our faith. Someone who has become a great friend in a short amount of time said to me today, "do you have any idea what your faith in God has taught me over the last two weeks?" All I could think of was the fact that I've been so focused on what God's been teaching us, that I never thought he was using our circumstances to teach others about faith too. God works in such amazing ways.
Another way God is working is through our insurance. If you've been reading the blog, you know that this was one of the main concerns about moving and being pregnant and having a husband that has Crohn's. So, the time has come that our insurance expires at midnight tonight. We received the paperwork in the mail on Tuesday regarding our Cobra, but they will only accept payments and enrollment forms through snail mail. Come on, who relies solely on snail mail in 2008. Evidently this company. So we did our part, as much as we could do, online. They will send us an invoice and we have to send them a check. Our policy doesn't go back into effect until they receive our check. Being 29 weeks pregnant this is a scary thoughts as so many things could happen at this point. But, once again, God has proven Himself so faithful. After my forever long test today, I ran upstairs to the Dr.'s office to reschedule an appointment that I have on Tuesday. We were talking and the nurse ask why I needed to reschedule, so I shared the story about the insurance and told her that the company says that any charges incurred while they are waiting for our check, we will be responsible to pay. At this time, that's not an option. The nurse just looked and me and said, honey we will see you Tuesday. Whatever happens with the insurance, we'll get it worked out. If we need to back date your paperwork or post date it, we will. Then she said they don't actually bill the company until I have the baby. She also said it was more important that they see me and treat me and they will work something out with the insurance until it's settled, but it's more important that I am seen by the doctor. This was an amazing answer to prayer as this has been a concern for me, especially if there's a slim chance I have Gestational Diabetes, although I'm praying that's not the case.
I almost feel that every day God shows Himself to us through an amazing answer to prayer. God is working mightily in our lives, but this also means that Satan is attacking and trying to take hold of every foothold that he thinks he has. So Bill and I have found ourselves talking to God a lot lately. Isn't it so great that he never tires of hearing from us.
My prayer today is for many things, but mainly that God will continue teaching us to trust Him for the little things in our lives and continue to change our hears and our minds. We have also been praying that Satan will have no room to have a foothold in our lives and that God will reveal anything that is keeping us from doing exactly what He has called us to do. I will ask that you pray for Bill. He is having the most amazing time getting his feet wet and is doing an amazing job of organizing the Children's program as well as many other things. These first few months are going to be hard as this is a huge transition, but I pray that God will give him strength, physical, mental and spiritual, to accomplish the goal that He has placed before Pastor John, Brad and Bill. Right now this is a hard adjustment to make, but he's loving every minute of it. God is truly changing his heart daily and it's so amazing to see God continually working in Bill's life.
So I leave you with this thought. I get emotional even thinking about the words to this song as it has meant so much to my family over the years, but lately the first lines of this song keep running through my head lately so I wanted to share them with you.
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.
Refrain
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
God will never fail you. That makes me think of another song....but we won't go there tonight. Even though it make take years to receive and answer to your prayer, God hasn't forgotten you and He never will.
