Christmas Eve Tradition

Each Christmas Eve we make Gingerbread houses or something like Gingerbread houses. This year we made Rice Krispie Treat houses and that boys loved them. The pictures are in reverse order, but you will understand. As you will see, Noah liked eating the candy more than putting it on the house ;-)

Noah gets a big boy haircut

It was a very sad day at our house this weekend. The time finally came to give Noah a big boy haircut. I was very sad about this. I love his little curls. They make him look like such a baby and I think that's why I liked them. I could always say he looks like such a cute baby, then I could live in denial that he will be 2 in the Spring. But, one too many people called him a girl and said "she's so cute." Plus, the curls were so long that they were always sticking together and just being yucky and poofy. When Aunt M said it was time for the curls to go, I decided maybe she was right.

So after breakfast on Saturday I got out the scissors to cut his hair. I brushed it all out and stood there and cried as I cut his hair. I cute about 3 inches off the back of it. It was sad, plus he freaked out. I think he realized what I was doing. But after it all, he's the most adorable little boy. But he will always be my Baby Noah even if his curls are all gone.

PICTURES!

I know everyone is excited for pictures and I've been so bad about getting them posted lately. Here's a few pictures for you.

A fine example of why we don't go out to eat much :-)

The face is so cute, but the mess is not.

In their new shirts from Nana.

How can you not love this face.

Isaac had to play with the "hair for his baseball costume."

"Hair" was everywhere. We had to sweep the floor twice.

I love this face...and yes he got a haircut after this picture, it was out of control.

His face really isn't this big, but I love that grin.

Matching in their Cars shirts. Isaac says it's his Mater shirt.

Funny Moments from the boys

So I must say this will be lots of random posting and thought but hey, everybody has to get caught up, right?

This is how Isaac now poses for all his pictures. Even when we go to have real pictures made unless we catch him off guard this is how they end up. I love this kid. Can you believe he's going to be three soon?

I must say I'm even more excited about this Christmas than any before. Isaac liked Christmas last year but didn't quite understand what was happening. Noah pretty much slept through Christmas last year. But this year, it's a different story. First, I can't believe most store have their Christmas tree's up in October, but they do. Isaac is so excited. Every time he sees a Christmas Tree he says "OH MOMMY LOOKS IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!!!" He can barely contain his excitement. I want to put up the tree so bad but I'm waiting till Thanksgiving. Plus I think it's going to be the year we have to tie it down. Isaac always liked the tree and has broken a few ornaments here and there, but I'm afraid Noah might climb it. This kids climbs everywhere.

As anybody who has more than one child knows, two children of the same gender and almost the same age, from the same family can be completely different. This is the case with my boys. They are as different as night and day. They are at the age where they are beginning to extremely funny. Now not all the things are funny for sure. Like when Isaac decides to draw "round and rounds" on the kitchen floor while Bill and I are trying to help Noah when he's sick. I'm a horrible mother and made him take a rag and try to clean up is "round and rounds." Round and rounds are circles. He knows his shapes, but when he colors he says he's drawing round and rounds. It's so funny the names they use to identify things.

Isaac's deductive reasoning skills are amazing. Actually he's just amazing. Of course we think he's brilliant, but I'm pretty sure every parent believes their child is brilliant or gifted. It wasn't until people at church and hearing people comment on how smart he was while we were out did I think maybe he is pretty smart. At 2 and 1/2 he knows all of his letter, upper and lower case and can tell you the sound that each letter makes. This weekend I was even practing putting sound of letters together to make words and he was doing amazing. He knows all of his shapes and love pointing out octagons and hexagons. I always have to stop and figure out how many sides it has, but he knows. He can count to 8, sometime he counts 1,2,3,4,5,6,14,17,18,19,20. Other than missing a few numbers in between he does good :-) We've also determined that he doesn't realize he's a little boy. We think that he thinks he's grown. If we go to the playground or a play place, he always says "Mommy looks at those little kids. Can I play with the kids?" He also says "Mommy, let's go to church because there's kids in my class and I like to play with them." It's like he's helping the "little kids" play. He doesn't realize he's one of them.

So for the funny stories of Isaac.

When Isaac's in trouble, there's usually one parents who administers the discipline. Isaac always yells "I want ________" If I'm getting him in trouble he wants Daddy. If Daddy's getting him in trouble, he wants Mommy. Last night he was getting in trouble from both of us at the same time. He jumps in the floor and yells "I WANT" then he looks around and realizes the only person he's not in trouble with is Noah and just yells "I WANT YOU!" It was so funny I had to walk away. He didn't know what to do or who to choose since we were both unhappy with his behavior. It was so funny.

Earlier in the day Bill told Isaac that he had rabbit pellets in his diaper. Before bed I was changing his diaper and he says "Mommy! I have rabbit's in my butt, can you see them?" I said "Isaac what are you talking about?" "Mommy, I have rabbit's in my butt, Daddy said there were rabbit's in my diaper so they are in my butt too." I had a hard time not just dying laughing.

Noah on the other hand doesn't have a lot to say. He has many words. His favorite are "TEN!!!!" He loves that word. Of course the next favorite is " no, no, no Mommy." He also loves to say Isaac. It's so cute when he says it. He's a pretty quiet boy and only has something to say when he feels it's important.

His new favorite thing to do when you call his name is to smile real big, tilt his head in his "I'm cute you can't be mad at me" fashion, then run as quickly as he can in the opposite direction. He's just crazy.

Another new thing he does....when he gets upset with you or doesn't like what you have to say he smacks his belly and throws himself in the floor. Last night he began this with a little dance. So we all did his dance and acted like he was acting. (Not the best parenting moment, but we laughed and Isaac thought it was hilarious) Noah did not find this funny at all. He just made a loud exhaling sound and ran off. He didn't throw himself in the floor again the rest of the night.

All in all with a one year and two year old I think we do pretty well. Hey, we're all still alive :-) No broken bones or stitches yet. That's pretty good as hard as these boys play. I love these boys more than you could ever imagine. They make me smile when I'm sad and I love to get random pictures of them while I'm working or the random prank phone call from Noah breathing in the phone and laughing when I tell him to take the phone to Daddy. Even though I'm thankful to be able to sit for a moment when they go to bed, I often think of how boring our lives would be without these boys. Being a mommy is the hardest but best thing in the world. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Happy Birthday Daddy

Sixty-one years ago today my Daddy was born. I can't believe he would be 61years old. This just seems so old to me. Even though it's not.

So today I must say that my Dad has been on my mind a lot. No matter who it was, he always felt that birthdays were important. He made sure that the birthday boy or girl always felt important.

I truly can't believe he's been gone for almost 6 years. Where has the time gone? It's hard to believe it. Nothing that I can say here can express who my Dad was, what he did or how much he loved us. I wish I could put it into words. Anyone who met him never forgot him. It was hard to do. He was unforgettable.

I see a lot of him in my boys. Even though my boys don't look much like me, well Noah does, they definitely have the Brewer personality. Loving and giving, but stubborn :-) Their mannerisms, their over the top personalities, their love for music and Isaac's love of the color purple. You all know how my Dad felt about purple.

But today all I can say is Happy Birthday Daddy. I wish you were here to spend it with us, but I know you're having a much better time worshipping at the feet of Jesus.

June 27, 2011

I have been horrible about updating.

I see today that it's been over a month since I last posted, but then I noticed that last blog didn't even post. So I guess that means I've very far behind.

Catching up.....
Noah turned 1 the end of May. He's a crazy child, but the sweetest baby in the world. And yes, I have decided he will be 'Baby Noah' until he's old enough to tell me to stop calling him Baby Noah :-) He's got this head full of blonde curls and these big blue eyes. He makes the most adorable faces. All in all he's a very happy baby. Except when we check out at Walmart or when he's tired or hungry. There's something about the checkout line at Walmart that make both of my boys melt down simultaneously. It's very frustrating.
Noah is picking up some words now. He asks for Momma and Daddy. He can say Isaac's name if he wants to. Noah's one of those kids that has the ability to do many things, but only when he wants to. He's also mastered pee pee and poo poo. I wonder who taught him those words???? Daddy was so proud of himself :-)
Noah is as fast as lightening and LOVES to climb. Once he mastered climbing on the couch he now is up and reaching for things behind the couch in about 3 seconds. When he can't get what he wants, he promptly plops one leg over the back of the couch and tries to get over. He has NO fear. He likes the pool so far but doesn't like to get his face wet at all. This upsets him very much. His favorite thing to do is climb out of the pool run as fast as those little fat legs can carry him to the nearest lounge chair, climb up and starts dancing. He always is dancing by the time one of us can get out of the pool and over to him.
His absolutely favorite thing to do is dance. He dances to every kind of music and has a few different dance styles. He twirls in circles, bounces his knees (which in turn he has the biggest/muscular thighs of any 1 year old I've seen) or swaying his head back and forth like Stevie Wonder. Both of my boys love music. No doubt where that love came from :-)
Isaac is the smartest boy in the whole world. He's convinced that he's going to go to the moon one day and hit a baseball from the moon. He also has a plan to go to Wal-mart, but the supplies to make a rocket and fly the rocket to the moon. He made this whole story up with no prodding from Mommy or Daddy. What two year old says that?
Isaac is the best big brother. We are trying to instill in him that he needs to be a positive example to his little brother. Some days that works, others it doesn't!
Isaac can identify every letter in t he alphabet, in capital letters and most of his lower case letter and can identify several sight words already. He can also sing the ABC song. He loves music too. Always singing and holding up his "microphone" for everyone else to sing with him.
He's still a very rough and tumble kid. Always covered in bruises and bumps, but rarely if every cries when he gets hurt. As he says "Mommy I'm a fishy!" He can swim very well with little arm swimmy's on. The other day he got out to the 5 foot water in the pool before I could get to him. Again, another child with no fear :-)
Both of my boys are very loving boys. Isaac always give hugs and kisses. He told the helper in the nursery at church yesterday that he loved her before he left. Noah is very lovie as well, but refuses to give Daddy love. He only gives Mommy kisses. This makes me very happy as I often have the fear that they won't understand why I go to work every day.
My favorite part of the day is when I come home from work. Both boys are waiting for me and they come running to the door to greet me with hugs and kisses. Usually it's just to try and get outside before I can catch them, but I like to think it's just for me.
Our little family is doing very well. We love our family and we are so thankful that God has blessed us so much in the last year. I keep thinking that this time last year, we had no job and no place to live. We went 7 months without income. The most amazing part is that we never went without anything. God supplied all of our needs, even a washer and dryer and many other things that weren't necessities, but we needed. We always had a place to live and food to eat until He provided another way to earn money. God has richly blessed us. Even though this year has been hard, we have learned so much. I pray that we never forget these lessons that we have learned and are still learning. I am so thankful for the family God has given us and the family that we have become over the last year.
More pictures to come soon......

Noah's Birthday's

I don't have much time to post pictures, but I thought I'd share with you the pictures from Noah's birthday party .

For those of you who haven't seen them on Facebook, here they are.

May 9, 2011

The first celebration of Noah's 1st birthday.

Nana and Poppie came for a quick visit and the boys were thrilled. Isaac was so sad when they left. He loves having family visit. I'm sure he'll be so happy when we go to Florida in July and when Gramma and Gramdpa visit in November. He has such a tender heart.

Since it's close to Noah's birthday, we decided to celebrate! Although he didn't like the cake too much.

Here are some pictures of my baby Noah. I'm pretty sure he will be baby Noah his entire life :-)
